Join us for a day trip to snowshoe hike in Tahoe at Castle Peak! The hike is a 6 mi round trip but we can just go part way to make it a 4 hour hike. On average people snowshoe about 1 mile per hour, so we hike from 12pm-4pm with some wiggle room to get back slower before sunset. We’ll carpool from San Rafael GroundFloor at 6am and return around 9pm.

Trip Schedule:

-6am carpool depart from free parking lot near GroundFloor SR
-9am-10am breakfast in Auburn (optional)
-11:30pm Arrive at trailhead
-12pm-4:00pm Castle Peak Hike
-4:30pm Depart
-6:30-7:30 dinner in Davis (optional)
-9pm arrive back to GF

Required Gear:

(Snowshoe, poles and gater rentals are available at Sports Basement or REI)

-snowshoes, ski poles and gaters
-waterproof hiking boots and winter socks
-dress in thermals
-warm sweater or puffer
-waterproof outer pants and coat
-daypack
-water, snacks and lunch
-polarized good sunglasses
-warm hat or winter -headband for ears
