Fireside Chat: Stories of Redemption & Second Chances with Defy Ventures
About this Groundfloor Gathering
Join this guided group discussion with Groundfloor’s own Jessica Seifer, a Defy Ventures Advisory Board Member and volunteer; Israel Garcia, Defy Ventures Managing Director for the Northern California Chapter; and Steve Berinti, a Defy Ventures Entrepreneur in Training (EIT), hosted by Community Action Club’s Shannon Greevy. We’ll discuss Defy’s mission and programming, and how you can help make a difference for justice impacted individuals.
Defy Ventures is a non-profit organization that believes entrepreneurship has the power to improve the lives of people with criminal histories while reducing recidivism. With volunteer-led entrepreneurship programming designed to serve people during and after incarceration, their results speak for themselves. The recidivism rate of their EITs at 1-year is less than 10% (half the national average of 20%) and less than 15% at three years (60% below the national average of 39%).
