About this Groundfloor Gathering
Surf's down! Join us for an easygoing, super-curious wander through one of Marin’s coolest coastal gems: Agate Beach & Duxbury Reef.
We’re timing this adventure to line up perfectly with low tide at 4:00 PM - aka prime tidepool peeping hour. Plan on a slow, careful treasure hunt across wave-sculpted shale and seaweed-laced stone. Expect anemones, chitons, hermit crabs, maybe even a shy octopus if we’re lucky. 🌟
🐾 What We're Doing:
Meandering across Marin’s biggest shale reef like marine biologist wannabes
Peeking into salty little universes full of creatures doing their weird ocean things
Sharing observations, fun facts, and maybe a few sea shanties if the mood strikes
🧼 Stuff You Definitely Need:
Shoes with grip (rocks are slick—no sandals!)
Layers (the fog can roll in fast)
Water & snacks for keeping your energy up while tidepool squatting
Optional but awesome: mini binoculars, a field notebook, or your nerdy enthusiasm
📍 Meet: Agate Beach Parking Lot (399 Elm Rd, Bolinas) https://g.co/kgs/oKPNq2D
🥾 Difficulty: Easy, but we’ll be moving slowly over uneven, slippery terrain
⏳ Duration: ~2.5 hours including stops, exploration, and tide-talk
✨ Bonus Round (Optional After-Hike Fun!):
If time and vibes allow, we might head uphill for a hilltop view, take a chill stroll through Bolinas, grab a bite, or just kick back on the sand to watch the sun go down. 🌅🦀🍻
This hike is all about slowing down, looking closer, and letting the coastline do the talking. Whether you're a seasoned tidepooler or a curious first-timer, this is your chance to explore a living mosaic of marine magic.
