About this Groundfloor Gathering

Join us for an evening of connection and conversation among design educators, creatives, and lifelong learners—hosted at Groundfloor as part of LA Design Festival 2025. This informal gathering welcomes faculty, adjuncts, critics, and self-taught practitioners to share space, ideas, and mutual support.

On view: Bucolic Quilt, a large-scale installation by first-year students from the Cal Poly Pomona School of Environmental Design, Department of Architecture, instructors: Sona Gevorkyan and Richard Molina. Created in a digital design seminar, the piece explores surface, transparency, and material behavior through layered fabrication techniques, including CNC milling, vacuum forming, and flatbed printing. The result is an immersive, textile-inspired environment that reflects how early design education can merge digital tools with tactile experimentation.
