Over Beers Club: Meeting #4
About this Groundfloor Gathering
Please join us for our next session!
The Three Pillars of Over Beers Club:
Beer is unparalleled:
It is by far the most popular alcoholic beverage on the planet. No other beverage—tea, wine, spirits, or coffee—offers the sheer range of flavors, aromas, textures, and appearances that beer does. With the proper context, every beer you taste can be a testament to the infinite possibilities of brewing.
Beer creates space for connection:
No matter how revelatory a beer may be, its most important function is as a venue for social interaction.
The best way to get to know someone is to get them talking about what they love:
The things we watch, read, and listen to reveal who we are. Conversations about the things we are inspired by deepen connections and create a richer community.
How It Works:
Each session begins with a guided tasting, during which every member of the group is served the same beer. Together, we delve into the sample's aroma, flavor, and texture, as well as the process and ingredients that go into making it taste the way it does.
Next, every member shares a recommended thing to watch, read, or listen to with the group. This could be an excerpt from a book, a Substack post, a film, an album, a podcast—anything that sparks thought, joy, and inspiration. After each member has presented, the group votes on one thing to read, one thing to watch, and one thing to listen to ahead of the next meeting.
When the group reconvenes, discussions begin "over beers" with reflections on the previous meeting’s recommendations before we proceed to the day's tasting sessions and the presentation of new recommendations.
Why You Should Join:
Over Beers is about building a community where great beer, conversation, and people intersect. In challenging times, it's fortifying to linger on what inspires us. By sharing those things with others, we will create a space for curiosity and camaraderie. You will leave each meeting a more savvy beer drinker, equipped with new perspectives, some new compelling work to explore, and hopefully, some new friends.
