About this Groundfloor Gathering

In honor of the back-to-school season, we’ll celebrate one of the world’s most beloved educators. Join us for an evening of film and conversation as we explore the extraordinary life of Dr. Ruth Westheimer—Holocaust survivor, educator, author, and pioneering sex therapist. Through her warmth, wisdom, and humor, she helped transform the way America talked about intimacy. More than a documentary about sex, Ask Dr. Ruth is a story of resilience, curiosity, courage, and the remarkable impact one person can have on an entire culture. We’ll begin with a brief Entertainment Tonight tribute introducing Dr. Ruth before the documentary, then gather afterward for a guided discussion exploring the themes, questions, and insights from her life and legacy. Whether you’re familiar with her or meeting her for the first time, you’re invited to bring your curiosity. Sharing is always optional. 🎬 WATCH THE TRAILER https://youtu.be/CTLwBeyjPWI?si=sh-fWpDJKrM_g1og 🕰️ SCHEDULE 5:30–5:45 PM — Arrival & Social Time 5:45–5:50 PM — Welcome & Essential Question 5:50–5:55 PM — Entertainment Tonight Tribute 5:55–6:00 PM — Opening Discussion 6:00–7:40 PM — Ask Dr. Ruth Documentary (1 hr 40 min) 7:40–8:25 PM — Guided Discussion 8:25–8:30 PM — Closing 🍿 REFRESHMENTS Light refreshments will be provided.
