Log off and join in at 5 pm on Fridays. Each week we take the pulse to decide if we GTFO or stay in. No matter what we do, it's a fun way to hang out with your community before Friday night plans.

We’ll be keeping an easy to moderate pace and will take breaks as needed. Feel free to bring any water or snacks you would like, and def some sunscreen.

The merry-go-round address is:

Kundalini Activation Practice w/Cyndi

Kundalini Activation Practice is a powerful energy transmission that can initiate the awakening of one's own Kundalini energy, a dormant spiritual force that resides at the base of the spine. This awakening can lead to profound personal transformation, heightened states of consciousness, and deep emotional or physical healing. Unlike traditional practices such as Kundalini Yoga, which involve breathwork, chanting, and physical postures, Kundalini Activation involves simply surrendering to an energy transmission from a practitioner. In guided sessions, I act as facilitator to activate this energy using light touch, sound, and intentional presence. Participants only need to lie down on a yoga mat and then simply relax and receive while a curated playlist of music takes you on a journey. During these sessions it's possible to experience spontaneous bodily movements, emotional releases, visualizations, deep insights, or sensations of energy flowing through the body. KAP (Kundalini Activation Practice) may increase awareness and clarity, lower anxiety and/or depression, relieve body aches and/or pains, release stagnant energies and emotions, help to clear traumas, and access higher states of consciousness. Please come completely sober; avoid all intoxicants including plant medicines, alcohol, and cannabis for 24 hrs before a session. Eat only lightly or not at all before the session, as well as avoiding caffeine for a more potent experience After Effects You may feel the energy for the next couple of days. The emotional movements and heaing processes that began in class can continue to surface and unfold as well. Please pay attention to any internal changes, and give yourself the space to process and be with whatever may arise as a resulf of this practice. You may become more sensitive and feel more connected to your inner being. Many people report experiencing clarity, insights, and self awarenesses that lead to positive change. It’s important in the days following an activation to be aware of your energy levels and to listen to what your body is asking of you. For example, you may need more rest, or crave different foods, dreams can differ, or sleep can become deeper. The after effects vary amongst individuals. Over time, opening of the kundalini field removes internal obstacles to greater spiritual awareness. The positive impact effects your material life and facilitates the attainment of higher states of consciousness with continual practice. Please BE AWARE: While Kundalini Activation is safe and helps facilitate a natural process of energetic development, it is not an appropriate modality for those who experience mania, paranoia, delusion, or psychosis.

Those who have extensive experiences with plant medicine, or have regularly used plant medicines in the last 6 months run the risk of opening very deeply, very quickly, which may be beyond the scope of assistance provided in a regular open class. For this reason, we recommend that Kundalini Activation and phychoactive substances do not mix. If in doubt, please reach out via email before the session.

When practiced as intended, Kundalini Activation is very safe and opens you in a way that is gradual and well integrated. DISCLAIMER By attending the session you certify that you have read and agree to the following disclaimer. Kundalini Activation is not scientifically studied or proven in any way and all results and claims are evidence based only. Kundalini Activation may involve physical movements, emotional catharsis, as well as an opportunity for stress reduction and improved mental well being. As is the case with any physical activity, the risk of injury, even serious, disabling or fatal, is always present and cannot be entirely eliminated. If you experience any pain or discomfort, you will listen to your body, discontinue the activity, and ask for support from the instructor, although the instructor may not be able to prevent any damages nor are they guaranteed to offer the proper solution . You will continue to breathe smoothly. You assume full responsibility for any and all damages, which may incur through participation. Kundalini Activation is not a substitute for medical or psychological attention, examination, diagnosis or treatment. Kundalini Activation is not recommended and is not safe for those prone to mania, delusion or psychosis. By registering for this class, you affirm that a licensed physician has verified your good health, physical, and mental condition to participate in such a program. In addition, you will make the instructor aware of any medical conditions or physical limitations before class. If you are pregnant, become pregnant or are post-natal or post-surgical, you affirm that you have your physician's approval to participate. You hereby agree to irrevocably release and waive any claims that you have now or may have hereafter against Cyndi Vellmure, Agent of Change, or any of its instructors/facilitators. Regular in person pricing for this transmission is $50+ but for Groundfloor members it is $25. Creative Mornings

CreativeMornings is a free monthly breakfast lecture series. We offer free coffee, breakfast, and an inspiring talk highlighting an artist, maker, entrepreneur or creative individual in our community! We’re part of a global network found in over 240 cities worldwide, and are entirely volunteer-run and supported by local businesses in Oakland. About CreativeMornings/Oakland To say we have pride about our Town is an understatement. You have either been here, or you have the desire to be here. But Oakland does not mince messages: to belong here is to make a promise to community.  Oakland is built on community. Creativity and collaboration are what brought the Free Breakfasts to the children of West Oakland, the endurance to the Occupiers, and the persistence to the Resistance. We understand that to live a vibrant and inclusive life requires a diversity of beliefs and backgrounds. We understand that to breathe creativity into the minds and souls of our neighbors it requires the joy and respect for others. Community is not a one way street. Thankfully, we love to share it. At CreativeMornings Oakland, we seek to elevate the voices of our community: the passionate, the freedom fighters, the change makers, the resilient, the honest, and the leaders—without whom we’d have no inspiration, for our community is our future.

Over Beers Club Meeting #2

Huge thanks to everyone who showed up for our inaugural meet-up! It was a beautiful beginning, and the conversations were exactly what I hoped for: thoughtful, personal, and a little unexpected.

This club is built on the idea that the best thing beer does is bring people together, and the best way to get to know someone is to get them talking about what they love. It was very cool to see those principles in action at our very first meeting! Don't worry if you weren't able to join us last time, you can jump in with meeting #2, no problem. Just follow the instructions below.

We’ve got our assignments for round two. Before our next gathering, we’ll each:

📖 Read:
“Unwavering” by Jim Barger Jr. (article from The Bitter Southerner’s “Democracy” issue) https://bittersoutherner.com/feature/2024/jimmy-carter-unwavering-100
&
“Are Social Media Platforms the Next Dying Malls?” by Ted Gioia
https://www.honest-broker.com/p/are-social-media-platforms-the-next?r=8itea&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=false

🎬 Watch:
Freaky Tales, the new film from Oakland’s own Ryan Fleck & Anna Boden
📍Special recommendation to watch this at The Grand Lake Theater, which is heavily featured in the film

🎧 Listen:
Cotton Crown, the latest album from The Tubs - https://open.spotify.com/album/3CyhN08fdNqH1lEojtDSFP?si=yjKJ-hgESjKdzPEcH4IZQA

How It Works

🍺 We all taste the same beer, and I lead a guided discussion that offers some insight into what we’re drinking and how to appreciate it more deeply.
Then we proceed to our sharing portion of the meeting, where you will share the beers you've selected to bring, your thougts on last week's "assignments," and then...
📖 Each of you brings something to recommend This can be a chapter from a book, a film, an episode of a TV program, an album, a podcast—whatever has been sparking thought, joy, and inspiration for you lately. BONUS POINTS, if what you "bring" is something that was called to mind as you were reading, watching, or listening to one of the works from our first meeting!
🗳️ As a group, we vote on one thing to read, one to watch, and one to listen to before the next meeting. These selections will shape future discussions and help us discover new perspectives together.

Feel free to contact me (Sayre) with any questions!

Join us for a grounding, soul nourishing experience.  Join us to build the beloved community.

We will be allowing ourselves to feel and honor our collective pain about what is happening in the world.  When we give ourselves permission to feel our pain,  energy is freed up which can then be used to put our compassion into action.

During this sacred activism workshop, we will be practicing the world we want to see in the spaces between us.  We will engage in Joanna Macy’s The Work That Reconnects, a form of group work designed to foster the desire and ability to take part in the healing of the world.  In addition, we will be practicing nonviolent communication in order to have the skills to communicate with people whose views are different from our own.

According to civil rights leader Valarie Kaur, “Revolutions do not happen only in grand moments in public view but also in small pockets of people coming together to inhabit a new way of being. We birth the beloved community by becoming the beloved community.”

This Economy, Tho… A Talk on Money & Investing

Feeling unsure about your finances right now? You’re not alone.

Join us for an open, approachable session on how to handle your money and investments in today’s uncertain economy—led by finance guru Nick Larry.

We’ll kick things off with a quick overview of the stock market basics and how it reacts during economic downturns, followed by a conversational Q&A where you can ask your real-life money questions.

Whether you’re a total beginner or just trying to make sense of your next financial move, this session is for you.

No Gurus, No Gatekeeping: The Playful Revolution of Public Speaking

Forget overpriced masterminds and recycled advice from “experts” who hoard basic tips like they’re golden secrets. This is a no-BS, play-fueled, patriarchy-smashing bootcamp where you’ll craft a signature talk that sounds like you, get real reps, and walk away with a clear game plan.

No stiff TED-posing. No “picture them in their underwear” nonsense. Just bold, impactful speaking that grabs attention and makes the world suck less. You’ll learn by doing—playing, experimenting, and getting real feedback that actually helps you grow.

And best of all? You’ll leave with the confidence and strategy to land gigs, own the stage, and make your voice impossible to ignore. Because your voice isn’t just needed—it’s necessary. The world doesn’t need more polished, forgettable speakers. It needs you.

Learning Objectives

1. Develop the foundation for a talk that feels authentic and engaging.
2. Gain confidence through hands-on practice and real feedback.
3. Learn practical steps to start booking speaking opportunities.

Psychedelic Club: Piece by Piece Integration Group

Join us for a relaxed and creative evening of psychedelic integration, connection and reflection.

Piece by Piece is a lightly guided, mostly self-paced gathering where we’ll explore the art of weaving our inner journeys into daily life. Expect playful and meaningful prompts to guide your process, including:
• Alter Mandala – Co-create a collective symbol from found objects and natural items
• Integration Fortune “Cookies” – Draw a mystery prompt to reflect on or share
• Collective Collage Table – Help build a visual tapestry of where we are now
• The Integration Box – Contribute anonymous notes of what you’re letting go, calling in or sitting with

Come as you are. If you can: bring something for the alter mandala (flowers, leaves, feathers, rocks, crystals, pictures, figurines, etc. You can bring it back home with you) and some magazines or books (for collaging).

No pressure to share—just space to explore.

WildFiya’s PopUp PlayDate

Playdates aren’t just for kids anymore. Adding a little play to the typical week, PopUp PlayDate is an event that helps Black and brown womxn break up the routine of “adulting” responsibilities with fun and fellowship. This month - meet us at GroundFloor Oakland.

Relieve stress and connect with your inner child through a rotating variety of games, crafts, and activities. PopUp PlayDate is a sacred space for us to let our hair down and feel good through creativity, self-discovery, and fun. While you never know what each PlayDate holds, you know it's going to activate your joy.

Who this is for:

Black womxn and womxn of color who: are stressed because life is lifin’, crave more connection with other women of color, feel stuck in a rut and need some refreshing energy, or feel their inner child calling out for attention and healing.

What to expect:

Fun. Laughter. Connection. Every PopUp PlayDate is its own special treat. The games and activities will vary from date to date and range from nostalgic and classic to new favorites or original creations. There is almost always a group activity, but don’t worry, no one is ever forced to participate. Just remember, part of the fun is showing up curious for the adventure knowing you’ll get to meet and play with other Black women in a joyful, creative, and collaborative space.

Why we do this:

Because Black and brown womxn continuously face unrealistic expectations and social pressure on top of historical stressors– all of which detrimentally affect our mental and physical well being. Often expected to be strong and meet everyone’s needs first, Black women hardly get the chance to be carefree, playful, and nurture themselves.

Sunday Ritual Potluck: Cheese Board Edition

Join a special Sunday Ritual Potluck focused on one of life’s greatest pleasures: cheese. At this event, members will co-create a cheese board to share and enjoy. This is an inclusive event celebrating the joy of dairy and plant-based cheeses.

The theme is: California Cheeses
Northern California is home to some of the world’s most revered cheeses, artisans, makers, mongers and shops. Find a cheese you enjoy that was made in California to share at the Cheese Board Potluck.

How it Works:
Find one California cheese + one pairing. Pairings are anything that goes well with your cheese. Think crackers, nuts, meats, condiments, fresh/dried fruit, veg, wine/beer, bread, pickles, jam etc.
Tell us what you’re bringing here: https://evite.me/ZU9S2QKRtW
Set up your cheese on the prepared Sunday Ritual cheese board.
The group will introduce their cheeses, then we sample!

We believe that cheese doesn’t need to be fancy to be delicious. All cheeses are welcome. We ask that you bring cheese that you genuinely enjoy, and help us to gather an exciting variety to try. Local Bay Area cheese shops will be happy to help you make a great choice. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18bVXoIG98eZ0bVTePz40O3aNI_JXeTN05-GPMl0921E/edit?gid=1#gid=1

Wine Tasting: Novak & Mason Cellars

Join us for a relaxed, flavor-forward tasting led by Anne and Rachel, the talented winemakers behind Novak & Mason Cellars.

Wine is more than a drink—it’s a living story. Each bottle captures the elements of a particular year: soil, sun, rain, and the careful hands that shape the process from vine to glass. Anne and Rachel bring this story to life through their gentle, heritage winemaking approach—pairing California’s historic varietals with time-honored techniques to create something truly distinctive.

Expect light bites curated to complement the wines, so you can sip, pair, and compare as you explore the essence of each pour. Whether you’re a wine lover or just wine-curious, this is an easy, enjoyable evening to taste, learn, and connect.

Interpersonal Club: Community Building in the Time of Suppression

This month we will dive directly into the challenges we face in trying to build authentic community while living in a climate of suppression, polarization, and self-censorship. How do we deeply connect with others when there are so many things that are ’taboo’ to talk about? How do we find common ground for relating when we never know just how polarized the person we are speaking with is? How do we stay in community with each other when there may be fundamental ideological differences? How do we find relational safety as the freedoms we were raised to take for granted are being stripped daily? Come explore! Interpersonal Club is a space for members to explore, inquire, practice and deepen in understanding around the many types of relationships and connections in our lives. Through the exploration of interpersonal neurobiology, communication skills, relational resonance and coherence, co-regulation, empathy, emotional attunement, attachment, collective consciousness and more, we will grow our connections in real time and deepen our capacities for authentic and embodied relationships with our friends, partners, families, children, collaborators, and communities. *A note about our club structure: Rather than centering consumption of content or replication of hierarchical group power structures, we will tend to center group process in Interpersonal Club, meaning that we will stay with the trouble of working/playing/exploring through any sticky or murky places that may come up as we learn to be in deeper community together. DISCLAIMER: Interpersonal Club and its events and offerings are for enrichment only and are not a substitute for therapy, counseling, or mental health support groups. About Jackie: Jackie is an Integrative Family and Relational Coach and is a relationally focused Occupational Therapist. She enjoys translating and applying macrocosmic concepts and principles to support client's lived experiences and embodied wisdom, all while remaining grounded in context and interdependence. Jackie works with people of all ages, guided by the vast and rich fields of interpersonal neurobiology, autonomic physiology, emergent strategy, sensory integration, panpsychism, dynamic systems theory, quantum theory, anthropology, and her boundless seeking heart.

Book Club: Britt-Marie Was Here

Come read and discuss our May book, Britt-Marie Was Here.

*****
The New York Times bestselling author of A Man Called Ove, My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry, and Anxious People, captivates readers with this “warm and satisfying” (People) story “about a woman rediscovering herself after a personal crisis…fans of Backman will find another winner in these pages” (Publishers Weekly).

Britt-Marie can’t stand mess. A disorganized cutlery drawer ranks high on her list of unforgivable sins. She is not one to judge others—no matter how ill-mannered, unkempt, or morally suspect they might be. It’s just that sometimes people interpret her helpful suggestions as criticisms, which is certainly not her intention.

But hidden inside the socially awkward, fussy busybody is a woman who has more imagination, bigger dreams, and a warmer heart that anyone around her realizes.

When Britt-Marie walks out on her cheating husband and has to fend for herself in the miserable backwater town of Borg—of which the kindest thing one can say is that it has a road going through it—she finds work as the caretaker of a soon-to-be demolished recreation center. The fastidious Britt-Marie soon finds herself being drawn into the daily doings of her fellow citizens, an odd assortment of miscreants, drunkards, layabouts. Most alarming of all, she’s given the impossible task of leading the supremely untalented children’s soccer team to victory. In this small town of misfits, can Britt-Marie find a place where she truly belongs?

Funny and moving, sweet and inspiring, Britt-Marie Was Here celebrates the importance of community and connection in a world that can feel isolating.

Please come prepared to discuss this book (and if you haven't read it, and just want to hang out, know there will be spoilers!). We look forward to seeing you!

Business Club (Connect + Collab)

Business Club is a monthly networking and peer mentoring opportunity for all professionals and creatives to connect, exchange ideas, and problem solve over their morning cuppa. The meetings are facilitated by Sophie Davies to ensure everyone has equal time to introduce themselves and ask for what they need. How it works: After introductions the group breaks out into smaller groups to allow everyone to share “an ask” through peer mentoring with your makeshift advisory board. “Your ask” can be a specific idea that you need feedback on or a challenge you need help with. This work-related inclusive club is for everyone who understands that while we tend to work individually, we regularly encounter the same work challenges and believe that collectively we are stronger when we support each other and figure things out together. These gatherings are limited to 20 people, so please commit to staying for the duration of the session.

Inspiration Club: WILD WOMEN

WILD WOMEN

"Wild women are the truth we seek"

Join us for a transformative workshop, designed to help you reclaim your authentic creative self, and connect with the power within. Through creative expression and reflection, we will listen deeply within to access our inner guidance and wisdom.

No prior art experience is required. Wear comfortable clothing, all supplies are included. All ages are welcome (18 +).

We will begin with introductions, followed by a mediation and movement practice. After that we will dive into experiential activities in the full circle, as well as in dyads, triads and small groups. Space is limited to 12 women and female identified folks.
