Author Talk: I Love You Don't Die

Cannabis Club and The Lit Club come together again for a afternoon of elevated literature.

The Lit Club is a cannabis-inspired book club and event series founded by Hannah Eko. This May, we are lucky to virtually host Jade Song, the author of the Book of the Month: I Love You Don't Die.

The 1st half of the session will be for intros, checkins, and a writing prompt.
The 2nd half will be for reading, discussion questions and farewells.

This session will also be available through Zoom (link will be posted in event chat).

Beat Procrastination and Creative Blocks

You know that state of mind where you forget about time and space and become completely focused on whatever you’re working on? That's called the FLOW, and it feels great but can be difficult to achieve consistently on your own. Through the power of mono-tasking, rituals, body doubling, and power breaks, we’ll reach the FLOW together, and you’ll be surprised by what you’ll have gotten done at the end of the day. So how does it work? We’ll have a series of 50-minute bursts of focused, mono-tasking work. Every burst will be separated by quick 10-minute breaks. After 2 bursts, we’ll have a longer break, where we’ll share a meal (remember to bring your own lunch) and socialize before diving into the last two bursts. Switching off notifications, focusing on a single task at a time, being surrounded by people doing the same, and not keeping track of time will help you reach the FLOW. Essentially, getting days' worth of work done in just four hours. Let's get those procrastinated tasks done and beat creative blocks TOGETHER! Here is what our session will look like: 10:30 - 10:45: introduction 10:45 - 11:35: first rush 11:35 - 11:45: short break 11:45 - 12:35: second rush 12:35 - 01:05: lunch break 01:05 - 01:55: third rush 01:55 - 02:05: short break 02:05 - 02:55: last rush 02:55 - 03:10: outro You are welcome to join for just one rush or stay for the whole session; we just ask you to enter or leave the room only during breaks to prevent distraction for the other participants.

Pitch A Friend!

Dating is a dumpster fire, so we figured… why not widen the pool and help set each other up with our eligible, wonderful, non-GF-member friends? :)

How does it work?
Fill out the form at the bottom of this page, and Karla + Cass will reach out if you’ve been selected to present your friend to the group. Those selected will be allotted a 3 minute time slot to present their friend to the group with a visual presentation

While we only have room for a limited number of presentations, there will also be a mix-and-mingle portion after the event where members and non-members alike can meet, chat, flirt, and connect. Even if you aren't selected to present, you are still encouraged to bring your single friend for mingling! Our goal is to create a fun, low-pressure night where good people can meet organically. No weirdos, please!

If you are selected and for any reason you or your candidate cannot make the event, please let Karla + Cass know so they can make accommodations.

Healing-Centered Financial Wellness Series

Nobody teaches us how to talk about money let alone manage it.
This is a space to change that.

For the longest time I carried shame, comparison, jealousy, confusion and anxiety around money but worked relentlessly to understand and heal my relationship to it by talking with a variety of people (from stale pale male financial advisors to friends who had very little to friends who had a lot, etc) and actively managing it.
If you'd like to feel lighter around money and learn about it too, please join this small, intimate group for real talk, practical tools, and honest community around your relationship with money.

No shaming and no gatekeeping, just the conversations we should’ve been having all along. <3

Each session stands alone and builds on the others. We rotate through four core topics:

Rotating Healing-Centered Money Topics:
Money Convos — Let's talk about "it". Where did your money story come from? What's still running the show?

Money Audit Somatics — Getting clear on what's actually happening with your money (without the shame spiral)

Investing 101 — Just the tip :) Learn something, teach something, or maybe even make your first investment. Investing is a tool that should be made accessible to everyone.

Money & the Mind — Because the math is actually the easy part...
This is a revolving series — sessions repeat so you can join whenever you're ready and attend any 4 sessions that work for your schedule.

When: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, 5:15–7:00pm*

Step Into Your Power As A Public Speaker

Strengthen your power and presence as a public speaker through embodied strategic practices rooted in neuroscience and clinical psychology This workshop is open to everyone, and centers BIPOC, LGBTQ+, neurodivergent and survivor communities. Do you feel anxious before presenting — and wish you could speak with more clarity and confidence? Strengthen your power and presence as a public speaker through embodied strategic practices rooted in neuroscience, clinical psychology and art therapy. Whether you’re preparing for an investor pitch, a high-stakes client meeting, or a job interview, the way you speak shapes how you’re perceived and what gets heard. Public speaking isn’t just about what you say — it’s about how you prepare your mind, body, and nervous system to show up with presence and power. In this interactive and experiential workshop, Melissa Andrada (mel—they/them)—a survivor of big T trauma and CEO of Fairground, a global mental health collective—alongside facilitator Sol Garcia Jones, will guide you through trauma-informed embodied practices and creative strategies grounded in neuroscience and clinical psychology. You’ll learn how to access your authentic leadership voice, regulate performance anxiety, and speak with greater ease and impact. Drawing from clinical psychology and leadership development, this session invites you to reclaim your voice — not just as a communication tool, but as a reflection of your power, presence, and purpose. You’ll leave with: Practical tools to manage anxiety and nervous system before and during speaking Somatic strategies to ground yourself with confidence before high-stakes presentations Creative ways to authentically and joyfully connect with the audience in your delivery through mind, body and spirit Supportive space to practice your public speaking skills through invitational prompts Testimonials "Mel and Bree dazzled at the Out in Tech Leadership Institute in NYC, bringing their special brand of expertise, socio-emotional depth, and practical tips for powerful public speaking. Mel even gave me a personal consultation before my remarks that evening, boosting my confidence to be vulnerable in front of a key audience." Andrew Lowenthal Executive Director, Out in Tech "From the beginning of the workshop, it was clear that I'd come to the right place. "You set a warm and welcoming atmosphere by doing a few things: setting expectations that the group would be welcoming supportive and affirming (somehow you did this without being preachy or super rules based), you spoke in a controlled yet warm gently paced manner; you shared your own journey including your challenges with public speaking going from being a painfully shy young student to holding court in front of hundreds of corporate employees and also a big part of your "why," your beloved father's memory. All of this established trust and credibility. The exercises that you showed us, being in touch with our bodies and understanding the connection with our nervous systems and our voices were rich. Above all it instilled confidence that I can apply these tools and put them to work to fuel my journey. I came away incredibly inspired and uplifted. It was truly an impactful, rewarding, dynamic interactive learning experience. I wish I could take it over again!" We will play a mix of "party" games - casual, social games that are quick to learn and easy to play as well as "strategy" games for those that want a little more friendly competition in their life. We invite and encourage members to bring games they own with them for the evening!

For those curious, here are some examples of "party games": Codenames, Monikers, Hues & Cues, and Things in Rings.

For "strategy games", some examples are Azul, Camel Up, Quacks of Quedlinburg, and member provided games.
(Please note we encourage members to bring games that are not too complicated to learn and can be completed in about 90-120 minutes. We love a good game of Arcs or Roots, and by joining the community you'll find members who want to play those sorts of games with you!)

CAD, Design + AI

AI is rapidly changing design. In the process it's raising deep questions about what it means to be a designer, what it means to design, and what roles people take in their relationship to, and with, AI. 3D parametric CAD is the latest area AI is transforming. As it does so, it's going to transform the physical world. Are we going to drown in slopjects or get the world of personalized original products we've been promised? It's SF Design Week--let's discuss!

Poker Night

Join us for a beginners-friendly poker game at Groundfloor. Come to learn more about poker or take a shot at the prize pool. Players of all levels are welcome to join.

If you're less experienced come 20 minutes before the event for a quick lesson on how to play poker and common strategies.

We will be playing 5 cards Texas Hold'em in a tournament configuration. Players can only buy back in if they lose all their chips and within the first hour of the game. The buy-in is $20 and will be sent to Benj via Venmo. Blinds will rise throughout the night to keep the gaming progressing. Top 3 players payout (50%, 30%, 10%). The remaining 10% goes towards event snacks and drinks.

Founders Club: Sunday Coffee Chat

"Our Founders Club Sunday Coffee Meetup is focussed on accountability and sharing challenges! All are welcome, from current founders to anyone curious about entrepreneurship! We meet every Sunday to give quick updates on our projects, progress, and struggles, then dive into brainstorming solutions together and general catchups. We like to say it's like a little dose of ‘group startup therapy’ every week!

Come hang out, enjoy free snacks, and support your fellow founders. Feel free to message Vicki Powell with any snack requests :) See you on Sunday!

Writing Circle

The writer's circle is a group of Groundfloor members who convene on the 2nd Tuesday of the month for creative writing and connection. In addition to our monthly meet-ups we host casual drop in's throughout the month, so keep an eye on the chats. Whether you're working on a manuscript, writing for work, or new to writing and looking for creative inspiration, we'd love you to join us! No previous writing experience necessary. All are welcome.

Summer Floral Arranging

Join us for a summer flower arranging class designed to help you slow down, use your hands and enjoy the beauty of working with seasonal blooms.

Fresh summer flowers will be provided as you create a beautiful arrangement with guidance and inspiration.

Please bring a small to medium vase to use for your arrangement.

Feel free to invite friends to kick off your summer!

Salon 42 SF

We meet to collaboratively explore ideas from art to science to philosophy to learn about the topic and each other.

Our intent is to create a free, inclusive, and friendly space for connection and community based on ideas, in an environment that prioritizes listening and openness to a wide range of perspectives.

How does it work?
We choose a topic, share optional resources (video/articles/podcasts, etc.) and discussion questions in advance to establish a shared context, and then have a lightly moderated discussion along with potluck-style drinks and snacks. Expect some time to socialize before and after the official discussion.

Game Day 🎲♟️

>> Come play some great games with some great people. Bring a game to share. Learn a new game. Compete and cooperate. You know the drill… and the thrill. We’re not playing Sorry or Monopoly here. Think Carcassonne or Azul or Settlers of Catan. Not necessarily those games, but solid strategy games that exercise your mind, but leave room for lots of socializing between turns. Many games max out at four players. For those, we will divide into groups. And, for the big group games, such as Code Names or Wavelength, we’ll get the whole crowd together for a good time… and some good laughs. Stay late and maybe Cards Against Humanity will come out 😈 Question: Why game day and not game night? Answer: Nights are too short, people have a cocktail, and then no one has the energy to learn a new game. Are you game?? Sign up now!

Book Club: Yesteryear

Join us for book club! We are reading Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke. Yesteryear is a novel about a "tradwife" influencer who wakes up to find herself in 1855, forced to live the harsh reality of 19th-century farm life, contrasting sharply with her curated online persona. The book explores themes of motherhood, fame, faith, and the performance of traditional gender roles, with a plot that follows her struggle to escape her nightmarish new reality. It's a social commentary on influencer culture, with film rights sold to Amazon MGM Studios.
